Brian James Barr is a photographer and writer living in West Seattle, Washington. A contributor to The New York Times, Tin House, Oxford American, Architectural Record, Seattle Weekly, and others, he is a member of the 2010 Jack Straw Writer’s Program. Currently, he is at work on an ongoing black & white photo series documenting the faces and places around White Center and South Park, two working class neighborhoods in South Seattle. In addition, he has been making photographs of the few remaining trees standing among the industrial waste and cargo containers lining the Duwamish waterway.
